Frequently Asked Questions
How does Wi-Fi streaming work on the CMX EA-60W?
The CMX EA-60W integrates high-speed Wi-Fi and an RJ45 Ethernet LAN port powered by the LinkPlay ecosystem. Using the free mobile app for iOS and Android, users can stream Spotify, global internet radio stations, podcasts, DLNA media, and Apple AirPlay wirelessly across single or multi-zone commercial spaces.
How many 100V ceiling or wall speakers can the CMX EA-60W power?
The CMX EA-60W delivers 60W RMS power output. Following standard commercial AV engineering practice with a 20% safety headroom margin, total connected speaker load should not exceed 48W continuous power. For example, it can comfortably drive 8 × 6W ceiling speakers (such as CMX CSK-56PC or CSK-66H), 4 × 10W ceiling speakers, or 3 × 15W wall mount speakers.
What is the VOX priority function on Microphone 1?
The Mic 1 balanced XLR input features VOX voice-activated priority. When an announcement is spoken into Microphone 1, the amplifier automatically ducks (attenuates) all background music from Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, USB, SD, FM tuner, and auxiliary line inputs, instantly restoring music playback once the announcement finishes.
Can the CMX EA-60W operate on battery power during an electrical power outage?
Yes. The amplifier features dual power inputs: standard 230V AC mains and a dedicated 24V DC terminal. Connecting a 24V battery backup system ensures continuous public address announcements, background music, and emergency voice communications during electrical power cuts.
Can low-impedance (4 to 16 Ohm) speakers be used with the EA-60W?
Yes. In addition to 100V and 70V constant-voltage terminals, the EA-60W provides direct low-impedance speaker outputs for 4Ω, 8Ω, and 16Ω loads. Note that in standard installation practice, you should connect either 100V/70V distributed speakers OR low-impedance speakers.
